Why is Everyone So Angry?

Philosophy Thought Leadership Speaker Series

Marin Philosophical Society – Monday 8/18 at 12:00 – San Rafael

It is a striking fact of contemporary political and social life, that people seem primed for anger; riled up, seeking opportunities to be angry, and clinging to their anger even when unsupported by evidence or facts. To make sense of this phenomenon, our speaker, R Jay Wallace, renowned moral philosopher, will explore two questions: What is the psychic need that is satisfied by our propensity to anger? And how exactly does anger speak to that psychic need?

R Jay Wallace is a Moral Philosopher and former Dept Chair at UC Berkeley. Education includes Williams College, University of Oxford, and Princeton University (PhD). His most recent book is The Moral Nexus (2019). He was

elected to the American Academy of Arts and Sciences in 2021.

Location: VenturePad, 1020 B Street, San Rafael – Parking at B Street & 3rd
